What is an Education Foundation?
An Education Foundation is an organization that supports a local school system; however the Foundation is a separate legal entity with 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

What is the vision statement of the Foundation?
Excellence in education by encouraging community partnerships and support.

What is the mission of the CCPS Education Foundation?
To provide financial support for innovative programs that will benefit our students and enhance the quality of education in Carroll County Public Schools.

What is the purpose of the CCPS Education Foundation?
The purpose of the Foundation is to sustain excellence in student achievement in Carroll County Public Schools. The Foundation:

  • Encourages community financial support for educational initiatives that are not funded in the budget.
  • Works to improve volunteer opportunities and community input.
  • Establishes and expands school business partnerships.
  • Assists the school system in achieving its goals.

Who runs the CCPS Education Foundation?
The CCPS Education Foundation Board of Trustees governs the Foundation. The Board is an independent, volunteer body with the powers and duties to provide fiscal guidance and governance for the Foundation.  The Foundation Manager runs the daily activities of the Foundation, reporting to the CCPS Assistant Superintendent of Administration.

How is the work of the Foundation accomplished?
The work of the Foundation is done through five major committees that include Board members as well as volunteers from our community. These committees include: Governance, Community Relations, Awards, Development, and the Grants committee.

What is the relationship of the CCPSEF to the Carroll County Public School system?
The CCPSEF is independent of the Carroll County Public School system. The governance of the Foundation is separate from the school system. However the Foundation works very closely with school system leadership, teachers and students to determine the needs of our schools.

What is the relationship of the CCPSEF to the Board of Education?
Even though the Foundation Board is separate and independent of the School Board, they work closely together for the benefit of students. A Carroll County Board of Education member is an ex-officio member of the Foundation Board and serves as a liaison to the School Board.

Is the CCPSEF involved in setting school policies?
No. The CCPSEF focuses on raising funds to support public education in our community. The elected Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools make our school system policy decisions.

What is the relationship between the CCPSEF and other fund raising organizations in the school system?
The Foundation will work closely with these groups to generate financial support for needed school improvement projects.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. The CCPSEF is a non-profit organization with 501(C)(3) status.

Who decides how donations are spent?
The Awards committee made up of Foundation Board members and volunteers recommends how awards are allocated. This committee reviews applications from teachers, students, etc. to determine how much money will be spent for any specific project. Anyone donating to the Foundation however may determine under which category they would like their donation spent.

How do I make a donation?
You can contribute in a variety of ways. Donations can be mailed to the Foundation office and credit card payments are accepted either by calling the Foundation at 410-751-3098 or through the Foundation website on the "Help the Foundation" link.
